My setup seems to be. The big exceptions are the (obvious) wifi, and I can't get the webcam to worked. It was fine with 10.5.8 with the IOUSB kexts, but not so much in 10.6. I'm not sure to the extent of the working ability of the card reader.

Worst part is that the webcam worked one time 10.6 was installed, but never again afterwords. I tried this guide on my Hp Dv7 1130el but it wouldn't boot due to the USB problem.as i was installing on an external hard drive. However I got a working install which boots in 30 secs by choosing apple smbios 667, voodoo ps2 only and not the trackpad prefpane, usb fix, no audio, chipset ICH10 and not the AHCI SATA/IDE. I did not install the chameleon bootloader again or edit the boot.plist.com but booted directly with -v and without the ethernet plugged in.

I set up the registration and then installed the IDT audio package from iDeneb 10.5.6 which got all my audio speakers and mic recognized perfectly. Rebooted again without the -v flag and hey presto!! My webcam still won't work even though it lights up. Sd card reader not working either but will try the voodoo fix on this. I have bought the 94312MCG broadcom pci wireless card which should arrive tomorrow, so i shall be trying that out instead of ethernet.

I tried every method around, but lots of problem, crash on boot etc etc. But yesterday i tried SNOWOSX distro. System is stable! But i have problems. No WIFI - Ethernet and Sleep! Otherwise everything is normal.

If you want to try to fix problems, Here is my way for stable system. I installed from SNOWOSX dvd. In customize part, choose everything. When installation finished restart and boot with '-v' (without quotes).Otherwise it will crash.

You will see welcome video without sound. First install Chameleon RC2 640. Customize installation and dont install Custom Kexts! Probably it will say failed to install at the end. You will see EXTRA folder on your root. First download nvenabler64 or 32 for snow leopard. (google is your friend) Then install with kext utility to Extra extensions folder.

It is easy just copt Extensions directory from Extra folder to desktop. Then copy your kext to Extensions folder on desktop. Then drag your Extensions folder to the kext utility. It will create Extensions.mkext. Copy both two to your extra folder. It will ask your admin pass.

Then RESTART. After restart you have Hardware accelerated Nvidia 9600M GT. For the USB support, go to /Root/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/ then copy com.apple.Boot.plist to your desktop. Edit with texteditor. You will see Keys and Strings. Add these keys to end of latest string tag. You can understand structure.

Not that happy about this situation. Mine is the HP Pavilion DV7-1196EG and I use the iDeneb 1.4 10.5.6.

Can I just upgrade to the official 10.5.8 through updater and then install these fixes etc. Or is it not recommended? 100% reccomending! But Snow Leopard is still the problem, at least for me. USB needs the fixed kext. I dont remember the link yet, but with this fixed kext it works fine. The only issue is Intel 5100 agn wifi driver, which is under development yet.

Hello, I didn't understand what you meant with your sentence. But can I use the 'IDT' which is on the ideneb 1.4 dvd? Because it works 100%! Otherwise I don't know, I mean I don't like this voodoo thing. I can't use the media buttons for the audio in my notebook and I can't use the icon on the task bar (or whatever you call it in osx!) And except from that I also sometimes use my laptop on my lcd through HDMI, does THAT work on voodoo? Or could I get a kernel panic in 10.5.8 with the IDT kext from 10.5.6?

Other thing, my laptop hangs sometimes. I don't have more than 3 programs open (I got the ralink driver - app, adium and safari) but sometimes it freezes a bit. Don't know why but then the audio playback from youtube hangs and it needs to stream the song again. Or anything else, like the safari is just crashing or something! And, to be honest, did you get your 2 other usb ports to work on the right side?

Or do you have them all on the left side or what? Are there fixes? I really need them! I mean my laptop is not that far away from yours and it's a DV7, too. I mean I like this laptop but there are some things which I really would like to see fixed and then everything's fine. I'll get myself a supported wifi card but the other things need to work, too.
